Example: Our Sanctuary By Mrs. Aiwohi
I remember a hill that seemed to go on forever steep and curvy, small hill after hill Finally after a journey uphill There almost to the end of Iliahi stood our santuary, grandma & gandpa's house.
I remember the view that was seen through the biggest window. "mmmmm" was the feeling you got as soon as you looked out. The calm, cool, carefree ocean the happiest shade of blue brought a sense peace almost immediately. I would see The Maui Princess slowly creeping across the water almost every time I looked out.
I remember the backyard where we played wasn't covered with fluffy green grass. Instead you found weeds, some bees, and the biggest mango tree. We explored and explored and pretended like kids do. "bzzzz" went the bees, "meow" went the stray cats, and "aargh" went the neighbors dog.
I remember grandma would splash the rush of the water on the the lush green grass in the front yard . A plumeria tree in the corner was the star of the show. A reddish pinkish color that was rare to see.
This was our santuary. Our heaven on earth Iliahi Street, Moloka'i.
